This works best with a contrast setting of 10, based on 100hz refresh rate. Or you can just highlight high and instead of pressing button #3 (enter), press button #4 (back) does the same thing. If it's already on high, move slider to off/premium and back to high or just press Cancel (back button). *XL270Z specific feature-undocumented - AMA low setting -removes ALMOST ALL INVERSE GHOSTING, adds normal ghosting, which can be removed by lowering the contrast setting!Ģ) set AMA to high afterwards. The XL2730Z will NOT strobe in sync at ANY refresh rate lower than 120hz! Note: the XL2730Z does not have the single strobe setting. (May or may not apply to XL2430T and XL2730Z). You can save a preset to a gamer preset by holding down the preset button for 8+ seconds. You can enter STANDARD MODE from any other mode preset, by holding down the top (back/exit) button on the s-switch, for 8 seconds+, then releasing. In the service menu use button #5 (up), #4 (down) and #3 (select) to navigate the menuĥ) For the XL2411Z (also the older XL2411T), it's button #2 (down button) for 5 seconds with power off, instead of button #4, then press power on+button #2 The lights will flash, and when the monitor has turned on press button #2 once to enter the service menu. While holding this button, press the power button to turn the monitor on. To enter the service menu (XL2420Z, XL2430T, XL2720Z and XL2730Z) with the single strobe (for single strobing refresh rates lower than 100hz), strobe duty, strobe phase and other settings: Turn off the monitor, then press and hold menu button #2 from the bottom.

Release them after the screen appears.Ģa) if nothing happens at all when the power button is pressed (this is most common after a firmware update or an AC hard power off), press power to give the monitor current, then after you get a display, power the screen off again, and then start sequence 1 again.Ģb) XL2420Z, XL2430T, XL2720Z and XL2730Z, XL2735: buttons 3 and 4 with power off for 5+ seconds, and then pressing the power button while continuing to hold the buttons down, will unlock the factory menu. You can change brightness now, but any refresh rate or resolution change will RESET THE AMA back to the default "high" which is horrible.Ģ) XL2411Z only: hold button #3 and button #5 with the power off, for 5 seconds, then press power while still holding them down. Blur reduction will now be disabled, and the AMA setting will be MUCH more tolerable, more like what you are used to on Asus and Acer monitors. Disabling blur reduction by going through a preset will use the previous AMA setting activated (from step 4) which is actually a bug we are using. Disabling blur reduction will use the default AMA high which is beyond horrible. XL2420Z and XL2411Z stilli show some improvement.Ħ) Massive improvement to blur reduction off's excessive AMA high setting: Right after doing step #4, instantly activate gamer profile #1 WITHOUT DISABLING BLUR REDUCTION THROUGH THE OSD.

If you do this on an XL2720Z, overdrive is reduced drastically, so you may need to reduce contrast to get rid of extra normal (not inverse) ghosting. Notice any change to ANY strobe settings whatsoever, monitor BRIGHTNESS, or any refresh rate change will revert the changes you did. &height=-1ĥ) If you are using blur reduction, you can stop here. You can test to see that something happened by using the alien invasion ghosting test.

(note: this is also mentioned below as well, but someone just had a massive improvement recently on his XL2411Z so I'm bumping this to the top!):Ī) Save standard mode (recommended settings: Brightness 20, contrast 45, AMA high, blur reduction OFF, Sharpness 5, Gamma 4, RGB 100, 100, 92) to Gamer preset #1ī) Save another copy of the same settings, but with blur reduction ENABLED, to gamer preset #2Ĭ) Enable gamer preset #2 Blur reduction will be on.ĭ) Move to Picture->AMA and press enter once so "High" is highlighted, then press back (or button #4).Īlterntively, move the AMA slider from high to off/premium then back to high, to OVERWRITE the current AMA high setting with an undocumented lower level version. XL2720Z has a more drastic improvement than the 24" monitors. Posting this in the Benq section even though I had this in General, seems some people are missing it.ġ) XL2720Z/XL2420Z/XL2411Z -REMOVE THE HARD BLUE UGLY GHOST TRAILS OF AMA HIGH IF BLUR REDUCTION IS DISABLED
